What is used for ink to print the brand name on medications?
If I am not mistaken it is a soy based ink, or one that uses only Food Dye and Coloring. Either way they are not harmful.
You would have to call the manufacturer of the medication. There's lots of different companies out there and they likely all use something different. Their phone number should be listed somewhere on the medication leaflet or bottle.
Ink is a mixture of:
Pigment
Vehicle (varnish)
Modifiers
Additives
Drier
In the instance of prescription labels, the ink would have to be water and smear proof, i.e., a hard-drying and fast-drying ink made particularly for labels.
